Mani Matter, born Hans-Peter Matter on August 4, 1936, in Herzogenbuchsee, Switzerland, was a beloved Swiss singer-songwriter renowned for his poignant lyrics, captivating melodies, and profound reflections on everyday life. Considered one of the most significant figures in Swiss music history, Matter’s songs captured the essence of Swiss culture and identity with humor, wit, and insight.
Matter’s music, primarily performed in Swiss German dialects, resonated deeply with audiences across Switzerland and beyond.
